New Years

I'm sitting here at Towers Desk and I don't really know what to do with myself so I decided to post on my LJ, everyone is doing their new years resolutions and I think it's funny. New Years is another day, yes it marks the beginning of a new year and for some a new beginning, but why do we wait until New Years to make goals and express aspirations? I don't believe in resolutions but if I were to express the goals I have been working towards I would have to say: don't get fired, live life to fit MY standard, don't forget the important people in my life, decide what I want out of every life and remember everything I've gained from each experience. These simple things are less what I have planned for next year and more what I have learned in the short time that 2006 has taken place. I find that I have learned so much from my experiences this year and from those I have allowed into my life (sounds like a pompus statement "allowed into my life" but if you knew me long ago, you'd know that was a leap). I found a song that makes me think, the song is called "One-X" by Three Days Grace and the lyrics are as follows:
"Do you think about
Everything you've been through
You never thought you'd be so depressed
Are you wondering
Is it life or death
Do you think that there's no one like you

We are the ones
We get knocked down
We get back up and stand above the crowd
We are one"

I really like this song because it makes me think about growing up and how we all go through horrible events in our lives and it is so easy to feel like there is no one that knows how you feel and in turn we feel alone, but it is the negative experiences that force us to rely on ourselves and pull ourselves up. Finding the strength to stand up after being knocked down makes us stronger and seperates one person from another. Speaking as one who has only had music to turn to when in need of another person/outlet, I feel like this song gives hope to those in pain and says "Yes, it does suck that you have gone through so much, but you are not alone and your pain make you better."

I think about all I've had to deal with in my life and I look at where I am today and I can't help but think that I wouldn't have it any other way. The crud and the hurt, the pain and loneliness, the injustice and the lies have all given me the strength and knowledge that I needed to push through and become a better person.

I don't write in here often but when I do they're usually long but whatever, I actually have people to thank in this one, so here goes:

Jessica B: Thanks for being a great friend, it has been great watching you grow and blossom into the wonderful young woman you are. You have shown me that things happen for a reason and your growth helped me grow as well.

Eug: You are a shining example that people can accomplish their goals if they want it enough and are passionate about the things they love. You have shown me that being yourself is enough.

Dona: You are amazing. You live your life to the fullest and never at the expense of others, you always try to help and you keep pushing forward. you have helped me the most out of anyone, whether you know it or not, and it was not until I became close to you that I realized that I didn't always have to be the outlier. I really hope that you realize just how smart and wonderful you are.

My mother: You have shown me that people are people, no matter what their problem is or what has caused them to turn out a certain way. Life rarely turns out the way that we want it and no matter how much you want something/someone to be a certain way it can't always be that way but everyone deserves respect, even if their life makes you sad, angry, or both.

Margaret Rothe: Love yourself for yourself, don't be who you think people want you to be. If you are waiting for someone to push you the you'll be standing on that ledge forever, YOU have to dive in and no matter the outcome you know it was your fall, or your time to fly.

That is all I have for now, but yeah, I'll see you guys around.
