APPEARANCE: Threnody is a pretty black woman in her early twenties with light brown skin, long wavy black hair, and dark brown eyes. She is about 5'7" and 130 pounds, with an hourglass build; physically she is in pretty good shape. She tends to dress in a somewhat revealing way, and is comfortable with her body: low-cut or cropped tops, tight jeans, short skirts with thigh highs, knee-high boots, etc. Often her shoes are high heeled, although she is not incapable of practicality.
SCENT: Smoke, a little bit of lotion that has a ambery-vanillic tinge to it.
VOICE: Higher alto, also a bit smoky, as though she's gone long periods of time without speaking. Accent is American, suggesting she's a Manhattanite.
Psionic
MIND-READING: Surface thoughts are acceptable if she is not actively shielding.
MIND CONTROL: No; this is canonically not even possible when performed by the most powerful telepaths due to her absorption of psionic energy.
EMPATHY: Picking up surface-level emotions is fine.
Powers
MUTANT ABILITIES: Threnody is a mutant of unknown power (possibly omega level, according to TPTB of the 90s) who lacks control or understanding of her abilities. She absorbs energy of all kinds, ranging from heat to psionic to kinetic energy (seen stopping bullets just before they strike her, and two of the strongest telepaths around could not control her mind), but prefers death energy, to which she has a long-standing physical and emotional addiction. She can rearrange a being's energy signature to produce more death energy, which has the side effect of, uh, killing them. She is also capable of hearing/seeing dead spirits and channelling them as a medium, creating super-zombies that withstand even being dismembered--only decapitation will kill them. She can apparently also access powers of dead mutants, and use her assembled energies to create large-scale kinetic blasts that are able to take out, on accident, entire buildings; what her focus and deliberate effort would do is unknown. Lastly, she can use her own "death charge", if killed, to resurrect herself, making it questionable whether she is even capable of true death.
