So, I would like to adopt a pet when I move to Carbondale. I have two house cats at my house now and some outside cats, but I can't take any of them because they are used to their surroundings and, of course, why pay to have cats that are already happy outside fit to live inside when I can give an abandoned pet a new home? However, this is more difficult than I realized.
I initially thought to go ahead and do the adoption thing in Illinois, but that doesn't really work. You can't take pets home the same day you adopt them (this I knew), but this is a problem for me as you can't take pets on the bus (I didn't know that) and I don't have a car. I can't walk to the adoption place because it's in another town. I won't know anyone, so I can't ask anybody for a ride.
So I thought maybe I could adopt a pet from the Petsmart or the humane society here before I move, but I'm afraid they will reject my application because I will be moving shortly after I adopt it and that will cause it great stress.
I really want to adopt a pet a pet, but I'm not sure how to make it work...
