HTML 5: Elements and Attributes

Jan 04, 2007 17:46

The list is out: Proposed elements and attibutes for HTML 5. I really like what I'm seeing here-it brings HTML several steps closer to what it should be used for: labeling and organizing content.

Some of the notable additions:
- article
- caption
- cite
- head & header
- footer
- map
- nav
- menu
- title

I love how many things that sites, especially news and blogging sites, use everyday will have their own tag. I am a bit disappointed not to see "author" or something similar on the list but you can't get everything I suppose. I have no idea what the rules or default styles on any of these tags will be but with CSS it would be a snap to change them. I'm especially looking forward to see how the search engines adapt their spiders. Implementation of more specific tags can only mean better search results if done properly.
