As far back as I can remember my whole family got together at my Grandma and Grandpa's house and we has a real big dinner nice conversation and us grand kids running up and down the hall way. Christmas morning the phones would be ringing off the hook from 4 am on telling each other what Santa got for us till it was time to leave for diner. My Grandma always went over bored with the gift giving. The presents would be piled up so high that you could just barley see the Christmas tree. My family all got along and put our differences aside and we laughed and had a good time. As we kids got older the phone calls came later in the day and became shorter. come to think of it I don't even think I called anyone last year. And now for the last few years seance my grandma died my family is all about competition especially at Christmas and birthdays. Apparently they think money is everything. I my self, and my house hold, don't have a lot of cash at any time of the year. We do what we can and we make it. And this Christmas will be like the past few. These people will sit hear and those people will sit there. These people will not talk to those people and a hand full of people we will only see at Christmas time. To me Christmas is not about calling people at the wee hours of the morning and bragging that you got every thing on your five page list and a boat load of candy.Christmas is not about money at all. To me Christmas is being thankful that we are all together with our family's when so many other families are torn apart by he war, eating good hot food that so many people around the world don't have. The only real part of Christmas I enjoy the most are the Christmas lights and decorations. Yes I my self tend to go a bit over bored with the gift giving but my Grandma always told me that it is better to give than to receive...at any time of the year. Some one once told me "The rich will never help the poor with out expecting something in return" And I will never forget that. Spending time with my family even though they will never understand that less is most often more is what Christmas means to me.
