2010 Book list

Feb 04, 2011 08:20

I have decided that I want to keep track of all the books I read for the fun of it in 2010!  among the monotony of school and the stress of conferences there has to be some fun.  So, at the end of every month I will add to this list and see what I have managed to read in that month.  I've bought (or received) about ten new books since Christmas and plan to update a few more once I start getting paid again, so I'm sure my list will continually increase.  it also helps that I usually have two books going at once.

January
Night Bites - Nina Bangs
Master of Ecstasy - Nina Bangs
Immortal Highlander - Karen Marie Moning
Dangerous Games - Lora Leigh
Spell of the Highlander - Karen Marie Moning
Hidden Agendas - Lora Leigh

*EDIT - forgot to update this over the last few months - so here's what I can remember, not that I've had a chance to do a lot of pleasure reading lately*

February
Killer Secrets - Lora Leigh
Atlanta Heat (Rescue Me anthology) - Lora Leigh (I don't recommend reading further, this author's books are full of miss-spellings and all the characters follow a mold - I have the next three in the series and probably will not read them).
The Darkest Angel - Gena Showalter (Heart of Darkness anthology - finished this on the plane ride from Lexington to Houston)
Love Me to Death - Maggie Shayne (HoD anthology)
Winter Kiss - Deborah Cooke - started on the plan to San Diego, still in the process of reading (4/20/10)

March
Love Me to Death - Maggie Shayne (HoD anthology)
(wow - I really didn't get to read last month)

April
Punishment and Inequality in America - Bruce Western (criminology oriented)
Nightkeepers (Final Prophesy Series) - Jessica Andersen - this author incorporates a lot of history and mythology of the Mayans in this series and I find it riveting.  Others may find it boring and slow.
Dawnkeepers - Jessica Andersen (still reading)
Still reading Winter Kiss

I could make a TBR list too, but it would be so much longer than my actual read pile.  I keep buying books and not having the time to read.  Maybe with coursework ending in two weeks and my job starting I might have time to read for me again.

UPDATE (8/31/10):

May, June, and July I didn't manage to read a freaking thing.  I'm still trying to finish Winter Kiss by Deborah Cooke.  Still only halfway through Dawnkeepers by Jessica Andersen.
But earlier this month (August) I did manage to read Wild Card and Maverick by Lora Leigh.  took me 4 days to read both.  That was the weekend we had my step siblings and we spent all weekend at the pool.  I got a lot of reading done, because if I'd have spent all the time in the pool or in the sun and not the majority of it under an umbrella I would have been Lobster Fried Red!  so I managed to finish one and start the other (don't ask why I didn't go with one I already had started, I have no clue).  But I finished the other one at work within two days.  And now I also have the next one in that series started (Heat Seeker).  There are so many that I want to read but haven't had time for.  Still need to finish my paper for the SCJA conference that I present for on October 2nd (yup, my birthday)...that would also be my thesis that I have yet to defend.

UPDATE 2/4/11:

The last quarter of the year I only managed to finish reading Winter Kiss and it was really good.  Once I finally got my ass in gear and read it, only took me a few days.  I need to make more time to read because I have at least a dozen books that I want to read, but I just haven't had the time to read.  One is currently sitting in my desk drawer beckoning me...but we've been swamped around here.  So, 2010 started out great for reading and ended on a pretty sparce note.  2011 has started sparce too, I've read ShadowFever by KMM, but that's because I've been waiting over a year to figure out how the five book arc was going to end.  And damn, didn't see some of it coming, but it was awesome!  now, I'm going to listen to the audio version!  =D
