Yesterday my son came over the day. It was nice. He watched my GI Joe dvds and giggled up a storm at how absolutely silly G.I. Joe was back in the 80s. There is just something so nice about having both my kids here.
For the people on this list who aren't old friends, my son lives with my dad. Not because I'm a bad mother or anything like that, but because by his choice he chose to live with his grandparents when he was about 3, and I let him. They loved him as though he was their own. He was absolutely the joy of their lives. When my mother died I had to face the choice again. For the sake of my family, I chose what was best for them. I'm an active part of my son's life, but he and my dad need each other. At times it is a bit odd. I was pretty young when I had him, and kids grow fast but even faster when your not with them every day. He's going to be 15 soon and I still call him my baby boy. I come up to his shoulder.
I realized that part of his Christmas presents this year was going to have to be his first shaving kit. How did that happen? It was only yesterday he was 7 wasn't it? Except it wasn't really.
The kids played rock paper scissors. Rock paper scissors is an interesting game in this house. William is patient and amused because Emily makes things up. 1-2-3 he holds out scissors, she holds out 1 finger. "What's that?" "A magic wand."
1-2-3 he holds out a flat hand for paper, she holds out her with her pinky and thumb out vertically and the rest of the fingers closed in. He looks at her. She says "Coffee stains paper"
She asked Mike when he got home "What does coffee do to paper?"
Mike said "Dissolves it. At least if it your mom's"
Funny funny man.
I made a big batch of spaghetti for dinner.
A nice family day. I didn't get the things done I planned to get done, but it was for the best of all possible reasons. I was enjoying my family.
