Weekend!

Tuki- the cherry phone charm or??

My weekend was amazing. Mike planned some fun without telling me.
Sunday, I knew we were going to bbq. But Dad's working nights, so we planning on bbq'ing late. First we went out garage saling.
I haven't done that seriously in *years* Oh my goodness it was soo much fun!
Mike made sure E has been helping me, and gave her her allowance. I found a tin that used to hold two packs of cards, and old card tins are very cool for everyone, but especially for a 16 yo who has discovered the joy of duct tape and plays a lot of ccgs.
I found two old cards of bobby pins originally priced at 29¢ each in a ziplock bag for 25¢. If you're a paper crafter, you just felt a flash of envy didn't you? One was completely intact with just a few pins missing, the other had the bottom torn off. I'll scan both at high res if anyone wants them. Can you imagine a scrapbook page with stuff held on with bobby pins about a new hairstyle? That sale also had a little old leatherette case military sewing kit. Completely with scissors. Oh yeah. No self respecting crafter walks away from that for a quarter! And fabric for curtains for my room. A blue color, possibly wool.

Then we went to the Saturday Market to get zucchini for bbqing, because you know, grilled zucchini is one of life's perfect pleasures.
We got big huge organic zucchini, and then I found a booth with fossils.

I love orthoceras. One of the first things I ever smithed for myself was an orthocera necklace, and I wound up making them for all of us. E, Wm, Mike and I. Great big orthoceras for 5.00 each was too wonderful. I'm planning to use one in a broadcollar necklace.
After that, on our way to get groceries for the bbq, we found another garage sale. Oh my GOODNESS.. the husband in the family is a history teacher, and there were many books. I got lots of books! A teeshirt with one of my favorite Einstein quotes, and a few other things, including homemade rasberry jam. Because she had some she made yesterday with rasberries she picked.
Groceries, then on over to bbq.

My dad has lots of chamomile and fireweed growing in the lot next to his apt.

The first picture is chamomile, except there are some daisies there. I tried to explain to Mike how to tell the difference between chamomile and daisies (the leaves are different, so are the flowers, but more subtly)
Fireweed leaves, before the flowers are in bloom are stronger then chamomile for sleepy time. Fireweed honey is also one of my favorite things in the world. (yeah.. I'm willing to spend the money for local honey, because I love fireweed honey) Fireweed jelly is awesome too.

My hospital has a medicinal garden, and I keep mean to call the people in charge of traditional medicine to see if I can help groom it, because the beds are full of weeds. I won't actually water or feed them. My thumb is too black. But I can weed!
Other then that.. I worked on a teddy bear sweater for E's bear. Picture will follow tonight, it's nearly done.

garage sales, tea, bbq, herbs
