A/N: Well, this whole idea came from my seeing a production of Dr. Faustus on Friday, and thinking two things. First - "Ooh, gosh, he's at Wittenburg. Hamlet's at Wittenburg!" And second - "Oh, Faustus and Mephistopheles have such a thing for each other." I was also thinking more academic thoughts, honestly. This is set in a vaguely nineteenth century AU, like the production of Faustus I saw.
Whether the room’s stifling, oppressive atmosphere was due to the lack of windows or the overwhelming abundance of musty, aging books Hamlet could not decide...
