this must be the place

... At least the place for now. Chicago could never be THE place, but I should stop loathing it sooner or later and face the fact that I live here. My whole life I thought I loved the big city and now I can't imagine living anywhere bigger than Austin and even scarier, I would still like to try my hand at Interlochen. Yikes... Goodbye, New York. Truth be told, I watched Ferris Bueller today and it made me a little bit sentimental.

Speaking of that, I definitely have an awkward crush on Ronnie Pinsky, aka Blake Soper, aka Blake Sennet of Rilo Kiley, aka the ex of Winona Ryder AND Jenny Lewis the coolest ever. There's another person who DOESN'T live here. Maybe Ill just stalk John Cusack. Or the hot guys who work for or are interviewing at the Urban Outfitters in Evanston. Living in the literal "gay" part of Chicago is taking its toll.

Speaking of interviews, I applied for a jillion jobs and I was getting discouraged, but then I had that interview with Urban (they'll probably call tomorrow) and I have four more in the next 2 weeks. My phone's been ringing like crazy. Thank you, Craigslist! With this website, I can get a job, freelance writing gigs, a stint singing with a band, and a free haircut (which I need because this blonde is getting tiresome and I can't afford to fix it... Or to do much of anything...). But one of these interviews and the perks of my internship at Links Hall should cure that soon. Yes, indeed, things are looking up, the cable/internet guy comes next week, I finished painting my room, the excessive yawning caused by generalized anxiety is subsiding (I'm not kidding, I had that), and clubbing in Boystown is fun, especially with the roommates' big black boyfriends/ex-boyfriends getting cat-calls like crazy). Plus, there are a lot of (crappy) free comedy shows (and the guys who run them are pretty hot).

Strangely, I'm not busy enough at all and am, in fact, super bored. In the last 3 weeks, though I sleep in most days til at least 11, exercise (Body by Jake!) daily, and average at least an hour a day at Caribou for free Internet, I have watched:
newsies
mannequin
the burbs
jurassic park
hitch
the goonies
ferris bueller's day off (Kenny Ortega strikes AGAIN!)
the carebears in wonderland
the last unicorn
robin hood: prince of thieves
hamlet 2
american teen
pineapple express TWICE
all of salute your shorts
all of pete and pete
season 1 of upright citizen's brigade
seasons 2 and 3 of degrassi junior high
empire records
dazed and confused
four weddings and a funeral
and some mitch hedberg
I can't wait to start getting mail here so I can join the library!

Now, if only I wasn't afraid of my nutbar neighbors (they are CRAZY and yelled at me and they e-mail Katie IN LONDON to tell her things like "Chrissie didn't park straight," or "someone is trying to deliver a package for Chrissie," instead of just telling me, the person who LIVES in their building." I have to get over this fear because the equally crazy carpet cleaners blew a fuse in Adi's room and we can't get the basement storage open to flip the breaker. Or maybe I'll just e-mail Katie to tell them...
