I... think I'm going to need to start drinking more cranberry juice.

The gray October clouds are giving way to a low-slung sun.
While I love autumn, I'm not the biggest fan of the autumn time change. A lot of people love it because, yay, we gain an hour of sleep... I don't. Since my hormones are a 24/7 thrill ride, my sleep is unpredictable during even the most mundane times of year. And I don't like how evening closes in so early this time of year, to begin with, but changing the clock and having the sun set at 4:45pm makes me want to barf. The leaves are about half done falling, so now they just look ratty and scraggly. Soon the cold and damp will settle in. Blah.
Solstice is in... what? Six weeks? Seven? I'm looking forward to it. I like celebrating the return of the light. And if all goes well, it seems I'll have someone with whom to celebrate it this year. He's already talked about taking me to a labyrinth somewhere, and I think that's a lovely, fitting way to usher in the pagan new year.

Fun things are afoot!
V and I are taking a dance class tonight--much more for his benefit than mine. It's a salsa basics class, and I can salsa in my sleep! He's a brand-new beginner, though, and he really wants to learn how to do this so we can go dancing. I'm tickled that he wants to learn about something I enjoy doing so he can do it with me. What a nice change! So, we're doing that tonight.
And, speaking of trying new things, I have agreed to go play D & D with him and his friends tomorrow night. I have no idea what to expect, and I have no preconceived notions. I know it's nerdy, but I also know that a lot of people think it's fun... and if it's something he's into, I don't mind giving it a try.
Thursday is band. Friday is...?
This Saturday, the "planning committee" for Joe's 50th birthday in New Orleans is meeting for dinner and to hash out the details of where we want to stay, dates, etc. I'm really excited for it. I haven't done any meaningful travel in a while, so this will really scratch the itch.
And on Sunday, V and I volunteered to usher together at the theatre. If people weren't talking before, I'm sure they will be after this weekend!
It's nice to have stuff going on, with fun people. :)
