my reading slowed down considerably due to the few essays/articles a week i had to read for my "body politics" class this fall.
and that's that.
of course, the end of the year has made me feel all introspective and reflective, and making promises to myself that i'll proably never keep. i feel like going away this summer and being so removed from my life for a big chunk of time had the same effect, and i made the same kind of promises and pledges at the end of that. now, 4 months later i've managed to half uphold some of them while others were either never thought about again or discarded after a few weeks. so we'll see how this year goes.
most of all and at the top of the list, i'd like to be more mindful, of basically everything. i feel like i live my life totally distracted and sometimes kind of half-assed. also up there - be way better with my money. oh man.
when i actually start to think about it, the idea of this coming year is sort of paralyzing, as going into it i can already cite two pretty big life changes that'll take place. we'll see i guess.
and speaking of - i only have one semester of graduate school left. this past semester i don't think i was present enough. or at least not focused enough, and definitely not productive enough. lately, i keep having these paralyzing moments where i wonder if this was a good choice. and i mean, yes. yes it was. going to grad school has changed things for me in terms of art and what i'm doing in totally amazing and fantastic and unpredictable ways. and i've loved it, and it has been really good. but was it really the best choice i could have made? that's a different question.
i feel really shaken about this coming semester. i feel unprepared and shaky and unsure about what's going on in terms of my thesis, and i wish i had at least another year to think on it. and then, theres that whole part where i'll graduate and...yeah, and what? yikes.
it had been so long since i'd written in this that i had all of these ideas about what i wanted to say, but now i'm bored and distracted, so w.
most of all, i just want fantastic and amazing things. i need to be more proactive about helping that along.
