ICON TUTORIAL!
Note: This is not using any fancy programs including Adobe, PSP, etc.

Create your own LiveJournal icons!
Step 1: Open MS Paint (Start -> Programs -> Accessories )
Step 2: Go to IMAGE and change the WIDTH and HEIGHT to 100 X 100 (as shown here).
Step 3: Design your first frame.
I used the Paint Bucket tool to make the background black, and then used the PaintBrush to make te edges red. I saved that frame as "icon1" in the WINDOWS BITMAP format (for good quality). I then put a first line of text and saved that, the second line, third, etc. MAKE SURE THAT YOU SAVE EACH FRAME AS SOMETHING DIFFERENT! [I saved mine as "icon1" "icon2" "icon3".] (Examples: Second frame - Third frame - Fourth frame)
Step 4: Go HERE and download GIF MovieGear. It is a trial version, it will expire in 30 days.
Step 5: Open GIF Movie Gear (This is what will pop up!) and click Start from Scratch.
Step 6: Start adding your frames or images that you saved earlier (icon1, icon2, icon3). (This shows you how to add frames AND this shows you what it should look like.)
Step 7: Edit your frame timing. (Go here to see your animation, Go here to edit your timing, Go here for an explanation.)
Step 8: Optimize your animation. (This is how AND This is what it does)
Optimizing your animation doesn't do anything more than extract unnecessary parts of the image. You can see your animation by going to View -> Animation Preview
Step 9: SAVE YOUR IMAGE! (This is how/where)
