I'm sure I have touched on this before, but it appears that the time has come that I reiderate - The words "I'm sorry" seem to have lost their value. Either that or people have become so weak that they feel the need to apologize for everything they do so as not to 'offend' anyone.I understand when someone slips and says something that culd be deemed 'out of line' in a conversation, but petty things really don't deserve an I'm sorry. Nowadays people are apologizing for just standing somewhere! I understand that if standing in the middle of a hallway, obstructing the flow of people trying to get too and from their classes merits and 'I'm sorry' but when you are standing to the side of the hall, perfectly out of the way, and someone passes you with ample room between them and yourself, an 'I'm sorry' is just uncalled for - I mean, seriously, are you that eager to have everyone like you that you try not to step on anyone's toes? How can someone live like that? Maybe a 'pardon me' or "oops, I was in the way" or something along those lines would be more appropriate...
I don't understand what happened to this country. We were once gutzy enough to break away from a tyrannical rule via a WAR (War=blood, dying, etc.). Now, it seems that we can't say anything that has not been deemed Politically Correct because we might offend someone. "I tell you, the overuse of the word offence in this country is driving me out of my mind! ...I don't care if you don't believe in something but if you think the fact that it offends you is going to stop me from saying it Put a helemt on! It's my country too!" _Brad Stein "Put a Helmet on."
I don't know, I'm probably overexaggerating as usual, but really, haven't the words 'I'm sorry' just been so outdone for any and every little thing people do they have lost value?
EDIT/UPDATE:
So as a result of me cutting my foot on my stupid institutionalized plastic chair, I am getting a new, comfy desk chair. My grandma decided to buy me one after I explained to her how I cut my foot. How sweet. I am also getting computer speakers and a USB adaptor from my Step-dad too. Hopefully he will find a webcam compatible with my laptop soon too. YIPPIE! I get stuff! I should get everything by Monday, which will make that a good day. However, that day will also include a 2-minute speech for my communications class and be preceeded by two test on Tuedsay, and a test Wednesday. Oh well, nothing I can't handle. :) I'm a tough little college student! yea right. I should also find out this week whether or not I'm going to Oxford next semester. I'm so torn on that news. I do want to go, and I know it will be an excellent opportunity for me regarding my career. But...5 months without seeing Gordon. I don't know if I can handle that. *Sigh* Whatever happens happens. If I do get accepted I am going for sure, there is no way that he would let me turn down that opportunity for him. There's no way I would let myself turn it down either. But, in the event that I don't get to go, I do have him to visit on weekends. :) Plus, I'll have all the guys at the MSP house and the Chi Chi's to hang out with. DANCE PARTIES!!! WOOOT! Speaking of, there's another dance party this coming Saturday!!!! I'm so excited. *giggles* woot!
