Shit. This is not the day to be traveling away from home.
Ice storm '08: Widespread destruction, nearly 180,000 left without power If this is anything as bad as the ice storm Buffalo had a few years ago, then we will still be cleaning up trees for several months. From the pictures it doesn't look quite *that* bad.
I'm worried about my house. I have had a low hanging tree over my roof since I moved in. I finally scheduled someone to come take it down. Irony of ironies, he had time in the schedule to do this work this past Monday. I didn't feel good about him doing the work while I wasn't there ('cause I'd like to pay the guy and because I didn't want a call that a branch accidently went through my roof), so I told him to reschedule it for this upcoming Monday. If he had just done it this past week I would be much less worried. There are also branches on another tree that he was going to take down (80% rotten branches), and those are overhanging my neighbor's driveway/the back alleyway. So, hopefully I don't come back to angry neighbors because those fell on their car/I didn't get cleared out in a timely manner.
I talked to someone who lives around the same neighborhood as me, and she said he has no power. I am hoping my alarm system works without power.
Shit.
