First off, apparently
this story was the second most read story on Yahoo this morning. It’s about two RPI students who are Product Design and Innovation majors (my old major) who invented an eco-friendly housing insulation that is made out of mushroom spores! It’s a really incredible idea, and it’s super cool that it’s coming out of RPI!!
So, I literally ran around the whole weekend. I think I spent about 2 hours at home between Friday morning and Sunday night. Still, it was one of the best weekends in a while.
On Friday after work I picked up my car from the dealer (spent ~$700 to fix some stuff), went to Verizon to pick up the new cell phone they were giving me (a Razor), and then headed over to Matt, Josh and Aaron’s house for their party. It was basically people from work, and we had so much fun. Bring such a small company means that everyone knows each other, and, for the most part, gets along. We had burgers and Tandoori chicken, and I made guacamole. They had a keg of Yuenling, and we played tons of beer pong. My team did awesome and won 3 out of 4 games. I think the whole crowd of people watching were cheering for us because I was the only girl playing. We also had a vodka-filled watermelon…yummy! At the end of the night I expected a lot of people would stay over, but it ended up being just 3 of us, plus the 3 hosts. In the morning I woke up with a hangover, went back to bed, and then woke up a few hours later. Most people were still sleeping, but I helped Josh clean up the kitchen. Then I went outside and knitted for about two hours in a hammock. It was awesome. I had to leave around noon, so I eventually woke people up to make breakfast. Next thing I know there are four guys in the kitchen making me breakfast - NICE! We eat breakfast outside on the porch, and then I headed home.
After taking a shower, I head down to Connecticut and Camp Mattatuck for
jeffkimball’s bachelor party. I couldn’t mention this in my journal before because it was a surprise for Jeff. Jeff and others from his family have been camp counselors and directors before, so we basically had the whole run of the camp to ourselves. We climbed on their rope wall, ate bbq chicken, had a bonfire, and sang songs/did improv/told stories about Jeff. It was really fun. It was the first “bachelor party” I had gone to, but it was basically just a gathering of good friends. I think except for two people, everyone there was female or gay. After the campfire, the few of us still there headed to one of the cabins and all slept in the bunk beds. It was fairly comfortable, except I think at one point a fly or mosquito flew into my sleeping bag. :-/ In the morning we all went out for breakfast at a diner, and then I made my way home.
I got back to Troy, went home to change, and then headed to Brown’s Brewery for the Alpha Psi Omega meeting. I think it went well, and we discussed a lot of stuff. It’s good to see so many people attending the meetings, especially in the summer. I then went home and showered. I then went back to Brown’s because I had left all of my APO stuff there. Whoops! After that I met this guy I’ve gone on a few dates with, and we took his dog to Washington Park to play around. His dog is so cute and friendly! We then went out for Sushi at Totem on Lark Street. They have a $20 all-you-can-eat menu on Sundays, so that was cool. The sushi was definitely good. After that we walked around Lark St and the park for a while, and eventually I left for home. I felt so tired and dehydrated from the weekend I basically passed out as soon as I got in.
This week is really busy for me…I have stuff to do every day until next Monday! Tonight is a co-op meeting, Tuesday is auditions, Wednesday I will hopefully go play Ultimate, Thursday I have to practice with my partner for V-ball, Friday is Troy Night Out and the co-op sale, Saturday is a party at my Volleyball coach’s house, Sunday is more V-ball practice and then the RICHARD THOMPSON concert! Right now it is just me and Caithlin going, and I still need to order the tickets, so if someone else wants to go, let me know now!
Catch ya on the flip side
