Comment on this post and I'll give you a band. Don't worry, I'll make it one you know and love. You put your ten favorite songs by that band on your lj and in reply to the comment, then challenge others to do the same.

megan23451 gave me theAUDITION and TAI, so I'll do five and five.

theAudition:

1. Lawyers.

Chinese fingertraps, arms tied behind your backs, you wish we'd lend a hand, but that wasn't in the contract. This is your fascination, inflammable exaggeration, signatures signed in blood, but it's artwork that we love.
Still my favorite, I love everything about it, from the riffs to the lyrics to Danny's voice to the bass licks. And Danny dances like a freak to it and this is good.

2. Warm Me Up.

All I want is to be with you, all i want is to be with you, show your cards, show me what you got, we'll break these poker faces, like it or not, everyone is in my head but i want you in my bed
See the above for things I'm not sure I can handle coming out of Danny Stevens' mouth. They were playing this song on the UK tour with TAI in March and I thought it was amazing, but sounded suspiciously like they'd stolen part of JT's Cry Me A River. The song has totally progressed since then and it sounded fantastic in NY last month and the recorded version is unbelievable. The growth in Danny's voice, and the guitar work is just incredible.

3. Don't Be So Hard (acoustic)

Hold me, hold me, if I were to, I can't, can't, I swear I won't let you, it's all in your hands, I'll do what I can so you can do what you have to.
I loved this song on the album, but the acoustic version for Punk Goes Acoustic II is beautiful, at least to me. Again, the change in Danny's voice is noticable, and I love the backing vocals too. I love the pared down sound and I think it gives the song a softer edge.

4. Approach The Bench.

These acts of immorality are the only things keeping me quiet, can't you just accept the fact that I'm only as loyal as my options, I can't believe that you would ever trust me. I should be ashamed of this, I'm not, 'cause I have tasted grapes. This smile, don't look, it's my bait, my words the hook.
Color me utterly fucking sold. First song I ever heard by them, when CLC came out and I was hooked. Listened to it all summer long, skipping pretty much all their other songs. However, Messrs Stevens and O'Conner? Not buying those lyrics for one second. You're big sweethearts and I won't be fooled otherwise.

5. Livin' On A Prayer.

Tommy's got his six string in hock, now hes holding in what he used to make it talk - so tough, its tough. Gina dreams of running away, when she cries in the night Tommy whispers baby its okay, someday
Okay, not their song, obviously, but I love this. They sound amazing, and like they had a total riot making the song, and that's what I love about them in general. This could have totally sucked or come off really amateur, but it doesn't, it sounds great. Also, I remember thinking, "has he always sounded like that?" Wow.

[Note, this was so hard! I wanted to pick You've Made Us Conscious, Oh How Cliche and Smoke and Mirrors too :[ ]

The Academy Is:

1. Checkmarks.

Do you miss looking up from the floor at my face on a stage in a crowded room? well it's not the same. I bet you're still a sucker for those famous faces. Downtown, looking down, down, looking over the crowd, I hope you're out there, look at me now. Well it's not the same. Just look at how we've changed.
Always going to be my favorite. I don't even know why, I just love it. I love the bass in it and the fact that like half the album it was made for Bilvy to shimmy to. I love that it's different from a lot of the album too, there's none of the optimism and hope that infuses the other songs. It's bitter and angry and that might be my favorite Beckett.

2. LAX To O'Hare.

Maybe I should blindly throw my faith into the next thing that comes my way, standing at the back door with the life that I'd left behind. If we know the way we're gonna die through everything else we will survive. I've been waiting far too long to feel the sun on my back-
Raise your hand if you remember this being put on the site because I guarantee every TAI fan on my flist will. I was out, and I came home to a million posts, and Johnny contacting Bill for the lyrics, and so much general excitement and community feeling. I stayed up all night listening to it til it got light with midnightviolet and it was just one of those times that being a TAI fan seems to gift me, and it's why I love them. Also, bass licks and that noise. Mhmm.

3. Seed.

Shaken and faint, it was the hardest thing to swallow, pretending you don't miss me. You've got that seed in you. You've got that scene in... While letting you in, I'll be thinking about tomorrow and every time we cross those lines. You've got that seed in you, you've got that scene in... Hope now, as I walk away, you're the one that finds me out.
Not even going to explain this one.

4. 40 Steps.

I'm only as stable as I choose to show, if I choose to show. But where were you that night, when I was... Well, I feel that this is an explosion that nobody else could ever really know, I will follow you anywhere. You say you don't believe in science, you're always afraid of what you can't control, but I will follow you anywhere. But where were you that night, when I was... when I was calling for the answer that you probably shouldn't know? When it feels like flames surrounding me here.. when you were calling with your questions when all I needed was to know, when it feels like flames...
This whole fucking album is so dark and raw and painful if you take the time to listen to it, and nothing more so than this song. Knowing all the things I do about William and all the things he's done and been through, this song is just, so touching. It gets me right in the chest, he loves singing it, and he cried during it in Chicago. I love that boy with my heart and soul.

5. Almost Here.
Our time is almost here...
The exact opposite. This song is for me the perfect example of how ambitious and hopeful they were, he sounds so young and optimistic, and it's the perfect way to end the album. They know what they want, what they'll sacrifice to get it, and that ultimately they deserve it and will have it. I love the whole vibe of that album, so different from Santi, and I kind of miss that. Borrowing from another song "I'm taken back to the glory days, when we were young without a brash or bitter thing to say."

Yout turn :]
