On this bullshit occasion, I will repost an entry I posted on LJ over two years ago:
On the website for the March for Women's Lives they asked "Why are you marching?"
I am marching for the women who came before me who didn't have the option. I am marching for my mother. I am marching for myself, my friends, my loved ones who deserve to have the choice of what to do with our bodies. I am marching because I believe in a woman's fundamental right to her own life and how she chooses to live it. I am marching because I don't want to see rich white men boss my uterus around. I am marching because not one woman should die because she is not offered the correct safety for a routine medical procedure. I am marching because poverty has a woman's face. I am marching because while Viagra is covered under many medical insurance plans, birth control isn't. I am marching because sexism is everywhere and is not even close to going away. I am marching because lesbians cannot get married. I am marching because you can't get an abortion within 70 miles of where live 9 months out of the year. I am marching because people still think it's a good idea to only teach abstinence in schools. I am marching because amazing women are dying too young from breast, uterine, and cervical cancer. I am marching for other women who don't have health insurance to cover their bills if they do get sick. I am marching for the women who don't even realize this in an issue. I am marching for women all over the world who don't have the option of doing it themselves. I am marching because feminism is still a dirty word. I am marching because there is a whole lotta bullshit that just hasn't been dealt with yet, and I'm not going to stop until it is.
Why are you marching?
