Oh my God.
Found something that looks like tiny sore spot, possibly scab, on gum above one of my front incisors. (Possibly not scab, but remnant of cinnamon-flavored candy--however, I chomp on those with my back teeth). Am going to dentist next week, thank God. Hopefully it is nothing.
I have a well-known terror of anything happening to my incisors. This is why.
You know how most kids lose their two front teeth and look like a jack-o-lantern until their permanent teeth come in? Not me. My permanent teeth had already come in before my baby incisors fell out. The baby teeth were really loose, and I remember that they took forever about coming out (I was about 6 or 7 at the time). They were sickeningly loose, and I remember that, and on some level, I'm scared shitless of that happening again.
No, I'm ludicrously scared of it. If I'm eating and I bang my fork against my teeth by accident, I seize up in absolute terror. My distress is obvious. All conversation ceases, and all mental activity grinds to a screeching halt because I can fixate on only one thing: OH MY GOD MY TEETH OH NO OH NO OH NO HELP HELP HELP. My hand automatically comes up so I can fish around with my tongue and make sure my teeth aren't loose. I have been known to let dinner get cold before I'm sure it's safe to eat anything. And the worst of it is that I know how stupid I'm being.
Also, for no apparent reason, the screw in my glasses just gave and one of my lenses popped out. AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. Thankfully, the screw in my glasses is black, rather than shiny, and I don't need glasses to type or read. Also, I have the other pair at home--they're old, but the prescription is still good, and if I need to drive, I can use them.
Must find glasses repair kit for cheap.
