Weekend Update

It's weird to go shopping; now that I actually have an income, even be it piffly and ridiculous, I find myself oddly reluctant to spend any of it. I went out with Mom yesterday on a mission to return half the stuff she got me for Christmas (the black pants were a nice try, but I have very strict requirements for dress pants, and the shirt was butt- ( Read more... )

You're making shopping sound like number one, it's a painful chore, and number two, a crime (as opposed to retail therapy...). I know that shopping isn't manly or too dignified - every man I know hates to go shopping, even for groceries or other necessities, like underwear, and I work in a store where seventy-five percent of the time, women buy their husbands or boyfriends their boxers - but that's no excuse not to go! Once in a while, at least. I mean, clothes, Lee! **hyperventilates**

One question: are you one of those people who doesn't like to try things on because you want to go in, grab the damn thing, and bail before the sharks (i.e., salespeople) get to you?

Isn't it?

I don't care for shopping because I have a tendency to overspend, and because walking around all day hurts my feet. It's easier for me to shop online because then I already know what it costs and I don't have the tactile experience of turning over things and touching them, so I'm not tempted to buy them.

Yeah, clothes. And?

If I'm in a store where I've bought many times before and know what my size is, then yes, I may dispense with the trying-things-on part.

I got black pants, too! Good on us. Also, a purplish skirt. And now my mother thinks I'm in to all of that bright or coloured clothing and with sequins and flowers imprinted on it. I should never have agreed to getting the skirt. But it was FREE! How does one resist?

BLACK PANTS R00L. And yes! How could you be expected to pass up a free skirt?

I am interested to hear how you justify a sparkly multicoloured sequin purse as manly, unless the man in question is Liberace, or Sigfried/Roy *g*
