Author: momdaegmorgan - My master fic list
Rating: All ages
Spoilers: If you blink, Doomsday
Characters/Pairings: Rose/Ten
Summary: The Doctor finds it harder and harder to leave.
Disclaimer: Doctor Who owns my soul. I own nothing.
Author's Note: Merry Christmas, rachelbeann! Beta by the jolly sinecure

Standing by the bed, one arm inside his coat, the other dangling uselessly by his side, the Doctor watched Rose with haunted eyes. This nightly ritual of theirs was spiraling out of control. When you're done, you wanna shove him back onto Rose's bed? Perhaps that's all he needs...a little push in the right direction.

That last paragraph was lovely.

I wonder if someday the Doctor mind find that he'd already fallen, and hadn't noticed because Rose had been holding him up all along?

Thank you.

I think, if he were to stop and look, he'd find that yes, she has been holding him up all this time.

I really like this exploration of the Doctor's thinking about his relationship with Rose. We know he loves her, and we know he wants to protect her; he says he believes in her, but he also ends up doing what he thinks will be "for the best..." so it's really intriguing to see him playing with doing what might be fantastic, but not (what he might consider) for the best in the long run...

I think he played with the idea all the time, nearly the whole time him and Rose were together they were almost-but-not-quite lovers. The way he held her hand, was always so tactile with her, the way he was so protective, so possessive of her...he was playing at being 'with' her, just not letting himself step over that line to actually be-be with her.
