Reconsidering the Feminism of Joss Whedon
I recall always wondering why Whedon was considered such a feminist and now that I've read this essay I see that I'm not the only one. Too bad the author didn't go into the comics as I think that really would've make her case.
I just found out that James Marsters was in Monday's ep of "Warehouse 13" playing, of all people, the Count of Saint-Germain. Le Comte de Saint-Germain was an actual historical character who appeared to live for decades without aging claiming to have an "elixir of life". Chelsea Quinn Yarbro came across him and decided that the elixir was blood and he was a vampire writing a whole series about him starting with my favorite, Hotel Transylvania, the book that made me see the sensuous and romantic aspects of vampires, something I never quite understood before I read it. And now the man who played Spike is playing him. I've got to go locate that ep.
