An argument going around fundie circles is Pascal's Wager which posits that even though the existence of God cannot be determined through reason
, a person should wager
as though God exists, because so living has everything to gain, and nothing to lose. The question arises, which God? Here is one man's answer:

I tend to believe as Jeremiah said in Babylon 5:
"...the universe is sentient, aware, alive... We're all recycled you know. Just molecules and atoms born in the stars and recycled into carbon based life. Why do you think we have spent millions of years trying to understand the stars, the moons and the universe itself hm? Hm? Because we are the universe, the universe made manifest. It broke itself into pieces to examine every aspect of its being. We try to understand it because in so doing, well, we will understand ourselves."
I believe there is something beyond us but it's certainly not that Middle Eastern tribal god. We live in a universe consisting of 100-200 billion galaxies each containing billions of stars with who knows how many planets some probably hosting lifeforms far different from us. If there is a deity containing all, that deity is certainly not that bald old man who pointed his finger at Adam.
No one knows the truth this side of the veil of birth and death. At death we'll know - there will be either oblivion or some sort of continuance but until then there is no certainty no matter how much believers think otherwise and kill for those beliefs :(
