The pointlessness of it all...

I've wondered for quite some time what the point of life is given the fact that death is inevitable.

We go through so much stressful shit in our lives. We want to tear our hair out, strangle people, come into work with an AK-47, and all sorts of things.

So there's what we put up with. What's the payoff for it? Everything has to have a payoff for it to be worthwhile. Would you work if you weren't paid for it? Not unless you really enjoyed your job and had no use for money. The likelihood of either being extremely low.

So what's the payoff in life? What makes it all worthwhile?

Think long and hard on that one.

The only answer I can come up with is sin. Why? Because sin is pleasurable. Sex is pleasurable. Drinking is pleasurable. There are so many pleasurable sins.

So is that what humans live for? To sin? Is our sole existence based on the premise that we're nothing but a bunch of self-indulgent sinners with tickets to Hell?

I've thought on it. And all I see is this: there are two reasons people go on living.

#1 - Pleasure, sin.
#2 - Fear of what comes next. There's nothing certain in death that we know of. Other than it is the end of this life. But then again, we're not really even certain of that are we?

I'd write more, but I'm out of time...
