I forgot about DiTL until we were already out and about...i love these signs at most of the metro stops! makes so much sense! and people actually follow it! Montreal is off to a good start...
First stop is a Timmies for a muffin and cocoa for me. Then we start our day's adventures...passing an awesome Chihuly sculpture on our way! That's my friend Raj, who is generously hosting me while I'm up here :)
Another cool sculpture. there was a guy up at the top sweeping between each little thing...what a job!
Raj points out her favorite, a cow, and then we walk past some pretty flowers we just HAVE to take pictures of. Spring has sprung in Montreal!
We walk up a big hill...to get to a mountain. Mont Royal, to be precise, the mountain the city is named after. Raj shows me where we are and where we're going.
I huff and puff up what feels like a gazillion stairs, and have to take a break when we're almost there, but I made it to the top! And although there's a lot of fog and stuff, it's still a glorious view!
I like this feature--they were all around the railing, pointing to cool things in the distance. Such an interesting city, so much to see!
i reapply my sunscreen, because unlike my lucky friend, i'm as pale as a ghost!
We bask. it's like 85 degrees and just perfect.
Raj tries to give me a heart attack. then we take a selfie <3
Then we head back down. Oy. On our way to our next location I stop at a small store and got a snack and water.
Back to the Metro...the stations here are decorated so nicely. On to Old Town!
there are pretty old buildings and statues. Don't really know what they are, but they look important and awesome!
We walk down a street full of shops. I find one that sells maple stuff and gelato, and get a present for my parents and a strawberry gelato/dark chocolate pop for myself. omnomnom.
Our next resting stop is a nice plaza in front of Notre Dame. It's so hot, I feel like i'm melting. But i LOVE it!
Back on the Metro again...to the Oratory! I think Raj wants to kill me with steps. oy. I need to work out more...
Once again, the view is worth it. You can see Raj perching over on the left there.
On the way home, pick up some dinner at a supermarket. Then, we head back and zone out/pass out for a few hours. We were exhausted!
One last excursion...Atwater market. A big farmer's market, with stores and stuff. Destination: CHOCOLATE. I end up with just a macaron, and a plan to get more before i leave :)
Dinner time! And movie time. :)
Finally I give up and turn in. Raj has a cool clock that projects on the wall :)
I love Montreal! It's so much fun. I'm so glad I had at least one gorgeous day here! (the next day it poured, ugh.)
