Whoops! Forgot about ditl til i'd been up an hour, showered and packed for going to grandma's.
As soon as I get downstairs I am sent out for the paper. I lol at the strange picture! Our "new" garden is still mostly dormant, but the myrtle is in full bloom and so pretty.
Back inside, bags are packed and waiting and my dad is making matzah "pancakes" or "latkes" as he likes to call them. They're not bad with sugar and/or syrup! Then mom and I do a quick run to the town dump so our trash won't have to wait another week (no pick-up in the boonies!).
Forgot my face lotion this morning and my face felt like it was going to crack in two, so that's necessary. As is a pee break before we head out for real, this time in mom's car! First stop: dunkies, which is TORTUROUS on Passover!! Grph.
Get back in the car with my tea and Officer Krupke is playing on the Broadway station my dad put on. Awesome song! I doze until we get to Wilmington for a potty break and then I get to drive! yay!
Arrive at Grandma's to see that her flowers are in full bloom. Gorgeous. Yet another pee break--i love that wallpaper. A snack of matzah and butter to tide me over. My grandparents have HUNDREDS of Beanie Babies peering down from their kitchen cabinets--love it.
My Grandpa is a handsome man. <3 Gramma's hard at work getting everything ready. I help some but then get to sit and read--it's about time I read this book! Brother/SIL arrive and we put the table together.
Get the table mostly set, then watch Grandpa carving the turkey. I might have snitched a bite :-) Jaime and M play a bit of scrabble, and I get as much of the Seder plate together as I can (note: that is a turkey/chicken neck instead of a lamb shank, because that's how we roll).
Go upstairs to change...I love "my" room at Grandma's. Not only because of the bed and the same stuffed things I've been playing/sleeping with since I was born, but also for all the pics! I'm in all of those except the last, which is my mama <3
Eh, good enough. Haven't worn that sweater in YEARS but oh well. I get to the last freaking TEN PAGES of the book and then people arrive...bringing with them the biggest bottle of Manischewitz I've ever seen. NOMNOMNOM.
Seder stuff. Gramps is our amazing leader, of course. Lots of delicious food is had at the appropriate time--including sweet potato blintzes, which were AWESOME.
I find the afikomen for the second night in a row! Woot. $20 is my prize :-D Cousin, bro and gramps do havdalah a bit late but oh well. I finally finish my book and then admire as always the tie quilt my mom made from gpa's old ties. It's HUGE.
I'm exhausted all of a sudden (the 4 glasses of wine might have something to do with it too...). Call the boy, get washed up (in yet another bathroom with awesome wallpaper), then turn my "fan" on and GO TO SLEEP.
