This morning on the drive home from work I called my Dad, then my Mamaw to let them know I was thinking of them today. My Dad was in good spirits and it was a good conversation that actually had some substance. I think it's funny how I have to tell Mamaw I need to go 5 or 6 times before we actually hang up. I think of anyone in my family, I'm the closest to her. Love me some Mamaw. I worked overnight and have to be back tonight, so no family thing this year. When I talked to my Mom a few days ago she said she was going to bring me a plate of food for dinner tonight...we'll see.

Dr. TN provides some sort of Thanksgiving-y dinner for the staff, and a lot of clients brought in all kinds of stuff yesterday too. I heart Thanksgiving food.

We were surprisingly busy last night, and I already knew this morning was going to be insane. I had 24 ICU and surgery cases last night. Yes...twenty fucking four cases. For a good portion of the 12 hour shift it was only Dr.AT, Dr.TN in surgery, Gray, Carrie, and myself. Gray or I were floating back and forth between surgery and helping with the ICU cases, while Carrie was strictly ICU. They couldn't just be simple cases either. Our brains were all fried by about 5am and there was still 3 more hours to go.

I get really attached to a lot of the large breed dogs that come in and we've got a 9 year old Mastiff in for about 8 days that I just adore. As I was walking out the door for the day the owners came in to visit her. I went ahead and updated them on how she'd done overnight and how she'd responded. We talked for quite a while, and they were such gracious, nice people. After nights like this, it was really refreshing to hear someone express gratitude and appreciation for what you did.

Hope each of you have a good Thanksgiving.
