UniSA: Why didn't you ask for help?

Aug 19, 2012 17:39

I had to organize and attend an Academic Review because I failed a few subjects last semester. I knew during the exams that I was in trouble. Anyway, during the Academic Review, I was asked why I didn't ask for help. The Program Director claimed that there was ample opportunities for me to have asked him for help. In reality though, there wasn't. Or at least not from my perspective. See, he would scurry off after lectures before I could ask questions.

I'd been asking questions all semester, even other students were reluctant to help me be cause of plagiarism fears but they did anyway. I still didn't get it completely.

I suffer from social anxiety disorders. I hide them well, but they are now becoming a hinderance to my studies. It doesn't help if your lecturer is condescending, or intimidating or has a thick accent.

We are told that they are paid to help us, but really they don't give a shit.
