First day new sleep "experiment"

In an attempt to lift the fog that has enveloped my brain and kept me from being able to accomplish meaningful work for the last few months in particular, but really the last few years to some degree, I've decided to set a schedule for sleep as if I had a job.

Today is the first of 30 days where I will wake and get out of bed at 7 by alarm or earlier if I feel like it and stay up for at least 4 hours. I will allow myself a nap after 11 am if I feel the strong desire. I will go to bed when I'm tired enough to sleep. I will avoid going to bed for any other purpose like reading to attempt to separate the activity of reading from getting tired.

My understanding from many things I've read and also occasional personal experience is that my mind is clearer and my energy levels higher when I sleep a couple hours less than my body would claim when given free reign.

I have been sleeping an average of 9 hours lately. My habit has been to go to bed around 12 to 2 am and stay in bed until 9 or 10 am. I usually would wake several times in the last few hours and feel fully rested, but not inspired to get out of the comfortable bed.

Now I expect to get around 7.5 hours of sleep on average. But that will be determined by when I go to sleep, not when I wake up. I've always had a much easier time staying awake later than getting up earlier.

I expect that I'll be much clearer in mind starting today. I'm continuing my other recently formed habits of taking a vitamin b supplement, flax oil, and calcium. I'm also continuing aerobic exercise at least 2 times a week.
