For Sara

Probably nobody remembers that meme I did like four years ago where I promised whoever commented their own piece of "art." Whereas I can hardly consider the random, almost frenetic things I throw on paper - with generally no clear idea of what I'm doing or where I'm going - art, nevertheless people commented anyway.

So Sara, I painted this with you in mind (sorry for the low-quality photo, but if you want it I'll send you the original painting):

If I could compare you to any one animal, it would be the clouded leopard - unique, dignified, and full of warm colors. It's my first attempt at watercolor, so it's kind of experimental. I think you're supposed to saturate the paper with water before you watercolor in general so that it doesn't warp all over the place once you start painting, but I liked the patterns created on dry paper better. Plus I kind of enjoyed the texture that resulted from trying to flatten out the bubbles - it gave the whole thing more of a primal feel. Or something.

(As a demonstration of just how much of an amateur I am, behold my palette:

Yes, that is a sandwich plate. Sigh.)

That is all!
