Astrid Lindgren is one of my favourite childhood authors and Ronja, the Robbers Daughter is the book I loved most of her many creations. It's also one of the few I occasionally reread, because it's just that good. The title character is just a little girl, but she befriends the enemy(child), lives almost alone in a cave in the forrest for months to unite two bands of robbers that have been feuding for generations and makes it clear, that she will not follow in her fathers footsteps. how can you not love a character like that? The movie from the 1980s captures the stories spirit wonderfully and I just love that mans choir during the titles.
