Egads! I haven't made a substantial update of any sort since early December. I've given you people far too long of a reprieve from the boring events of my life! Let the torture begin for the first time in months.
So, I've skipped past lots of stuff that's probably noteworthy enough for this pitiful Livejournal. In keeping with tradition, I'm going to continue to not mention it because a) I'm lazy and b) I don't remember anything. Ever. So, I'm just going to mention a few important things.
My birthday fell on February 19th this year (it seems to do that every year, actually). It's really weird that it was on a Tuesday when I had classes, because my birthday has always been during the February break that pre-college students get to enjoy. Luckily, my friends were able to accommodate this unfortunate collision of my birthday with the daily grind of classes. Michelle and Buck (also known as Buckaroo to a special someone) organized a night on the town. The aforementioned companions, as well as Julia (I apologize profusely if you were a part of the planning. If you were, I was not made aware of this fact), headed out to DQ for some ice cream (Buck's treat), and then to Hannaford where Michelle got me (are you ready for this?) cinnamon chip muffins and buttered popcorn jelly beans. Those of you who know me well know that this could only have been made better with pizza. After this, we headed back to my room for some good ol' fashioned hangin' out.
Overall, it was a great birthday, and I'm glad it was so good despite my being away from home.
Although good things like that happen often at school, I'm still anxious to be at my true home with one of my parents most of the time (as I am now! Yay!). I get two enjoy two weeks off now before I return to finish out the semester. This vacation started out with a relatively brief excursion to Colby Sawyer College in New Hampshire, where I spent a weekend with my esteemed colleague Kayleigh. I had a grand time there, where I got to meet all of Kayleigh's friends, and watch Across the Universe yet again. We even got some alone time together when we went shopping (where I got a semi-electric razor. Such a smooth shave!). This was certainly a great weekend, and a great start to vacation.
I'm going to jump back to college now! I decided that me and some of my friends are going to shoot a documentary on how prepared students at UMaine are for the (presumably) imminent zombism outbreak. I think this is a very important issue since a college campus near a major urban center in Maine is going to be a big hotspot for both zombies and the resistance force. Seeing as I live in the engineering dorm, I'm hoping to find a lot of geeky people who are prepared for this invasion of the dead.
Speaking of my dorm, the quality of my life at UMaine has increased quite a bit since I've switched into my new building. My old dorm was all the way across campus from the other freshmen due to dumb housing situations, so I was away from pretty much everyone I know there. Now I live next door to Julia, and all my friends live nearby. It's really great. I'm just glad my workload is light, or else I wouldn't be able to accommodate guests for many hours every evening. My roommate is Jimmy, and he enjoys many activities. These past-times include soccer, soccer, and hockey. It's fabulous.
Even though UMaine is a bit better for me now, I still have no clue what to due next year. I'm going to list my options here so that other people know, and so that everything's not all jumbled in my head.
1. Stick at UMaine. Become a history teacher.
Advantage-I wouldn't have to transfer, and I have a substantial pool of friends there already.
Disadvantage-The career probably wouldn't be as rewarding to me as it seems, and I'm a horrible speaker so teaching probably isn't the best idea, despite my inclination towards the subject matter
2. Transfer to Augusta. Do music.
Advantage-The only music program in the area that will encourage a career in contemporary music nearly as much as Berklee. I have friends in the area, and at that school.
Disadvantage-I would have to get an apartment. I also probably wouldn't be able to make the same connections and have the same opportunities that I would have with the music scene in Boston
3. Take a year or two off and work hard to save up for Berklee.
Advantage-I'd get to go to Berklee
Disadvantage-I'd be behind most of my friends in school. I'd probably still have loans out the wazoo. I'm too lazy and impatient to save up for that long.
4. Become a police officer
Advantage-A job with some meaning and okay pay. It might just be crazy enough to work.
Disadvantage-This is also an insane idea. Probably a "future plan of the week" as the Howards affectionately call them.
So those are my possible future plans, and they all suck! Great, huh? Please offer suggestions and stuff if you've got 'em.
That's all for now. Long days and pleasant nights.
