Spring 2007 is complete...

... and I'm happy to say that I completed a 2.8 semester, which will move me out of Academic Probation. Here's a rundown of the classes and what's to come.

-Intro to Sociology (100): Well, I retook the class from last year because I knew I could do so much better than the C that I received. Mission Accomplished; I only missed 2 classes, and only when I knew that I had to only earn a 58 or better to get an A. Grade: A

-French 102: I went in believing that I could get an A in this class, but early troubles kinda put me behind early.I think that the difference is possible one letter grade improvement in the exams would have done the trick. So while I'm not completely pleased with my grade, I know that it was a big improvement over what it could have been early in the semester. Grade: B

-History of Soviet Russia (438): First, I have to say I love this class. The professor is interesting and he knows his stuff, and if he doesn't  He's sure to look it up to be able to tell you. He's also understanding, and will allow late work. So, I turned in the first exam, which was take home, and the book review late. In the end, there was the chance to get an A in this class, and it depended on the final. But, I'm highly pleased with the way the class happened, and I can accept the grade, even if I know I could do better. Grade: B

-History of Africa (360):  I started the semester off pretty good, decent grade in the map quiz, which is one of my strong areas. I did miss a few classes and let both of my required writings, book review and research paper get behind me and did not turn them in on time. Decent work at the end of the semester, and the final to ensure a passing grade. The difference in this class is not getting the papers on time. It might have been the difference in a higher letter grade. Grade: C

-Intro to Cultural Anthropology (120): I like the professor. I think she is very nice and knowledgeable. However, I think this class is highly boring. I'm not too much of a  fan when it comes to Anthropology. Looking at the grades, The difference in a higher grade is this: First, I couldn't get myself to go to this 8am class, more because of boredom than not being able to get up. Second,  two of my three quizzes, I got only half credit for. Considering the fact that the quizzes were based off the three most boring books in the history of mankind, I'm lucky to get the credit I did. Third, I got the last paper in a dew days late, based on my inability to get out and even do the research because of illness, to write it, and get it in. I'm blessed, because she told me that she normally doesn't take late work, but because I was so sick as to not be in class, she'd just take points off. So, I thought that there shouldn't be any reason that I couldn't get an A at the beginning of the semester, I'm just happy to survive and get what I did. Grade: C

GPA: 2.8
Overall GPA: 2.46
Soc Studies GPA: 2.4

So, here's the class lineup for next semester

Intermediate French (201)
Ancient Rome (306)
Colonial History of America to 1776 (440)
Teaching Strategies for Secondary Schools (SecEd351)
Planning for Student Diversity (SecEd 352)

Ancient Rome is a retake and with a decent GPA, I should get all of my necessary GPA requirements (2.5 in Overall and in Major) to take the 400 level SecEd block to finish my education. But, at least I have a few months off to recharge the batteries and be ready for school again.
