once upon a time i caught myself a mermaid but the sea was rough and the hooks i used ended up tearing at her flesh and she kept bleeding and bleeding despite my best intentions and when land was finally in sight the storm raged horribly and capsized us and she was swept into the sea and i woke up on a beach in California, naked and sunburnt and alone.
