Class First Impressions

Self Defense: Turns out it's going to be a sort of Judo class. Our instructor is a Judo instructor for the women's Olympic Judo team. It looks like it's going to be a good class. Hopefully he ends it with enough time to change out of the Gi before my next class.

Philosophy: Same professor as a few semesters ago, it's going to be a great class. I'm not expecting any trouble with the tests or papers needed. I am looking forward to the in class discussions.

Level Design: I'm very excited about this class. The professor is a hacker who works for the FBI. Seems like an interesting and likable guy. We'll be making levels using the Unreal Tournament 2004 engine. Has nothing to do with my major. I'm going to savor it.

Programming: The professor has been programming since the 1950's. He's been in the industry forever. It looks like we'll be doing very basic C/C++ way under the skill level I'm at even 8 years after I've done anything seriously in C++. I'm hoping the class will be a breeze.

Piano: It's technically the first part of a 4 semester program, but I'm probably only going to end up doing 2 before moving on to a university. It' seems very slow paced, but the experience and practice I get might let me pick this up as a hobby.

Art History: The professor acts exactly like Neelix from Star Trek Voyager. The relation is so close I had to look up the actor to make sure it was a different guy. He seems like a great teacher who is passionate about art. Once he found out (from directly asking the students) that I studied in Italy, he spent the rest of the class asking if I saw each piece of art on every slide that came from the same country.
