BUG arriving soon.
My BUG from BUGlabs has been shipped! I should have it in the next day or so.
The BUG gives me occasional idea storms, one question I had today is... can I hack the 10/100 Ethernet plug on the BUG to sip from Power over Ethernet ?
I found the power requirements for a running bug, they're 40 to 80 milliAmps, and PoE furnishes between 10 and 400 milliAmps at 48 volts, so there's enough power.
I suspect I can hack the correct PoE signalling electronics into a von Hippel module, but I wonder how to keep the ethernet mac from frying?
Is there an existing 'ethernet PoE splitter' that has separate ethernet and power outputs?
Google says yes, made by Linksys. It's pretty big though, I wonder if I can strip it down to the size of a BUG module.
