The commercials for Dark Shadows made me think it would be a comedy. But it was actually a serious old-style horror movie that nevertheless contained every bit of comic relief they could fit in. It feels like they started with a straight script, then added in gags. That doesn't make a movie a comedy, that makes a movie a mess.
OK, now I'm caught up on movies, and I can talk about what we saw last weekend! (In a post coming soon...)
