Meme, swiped from
ratherastoryFirst TV show I had self-insertion fantasies about:
Transformers. I was like 4. And when I was little older, Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
First fandom in which I interacted (online and in person) with other fans:
Look, meme, I'd been in fandoms for half a decade before the internet existed. X-men. Back on aol, and I was terrified that either my parents would catch me or the people on the internet would kill me. But I got to read some great Jubilee fic. (Unless we count the Star Trek convention I went to?)
Pairing in the first slash fanfiction I read: The first I remember was Remy/Logan (aka Gambit/Wolverine. In which Wolverine uses the security cameras to watch Remy shower. It was several readings before it occured to me to wonder...why does Prof. X have security cameras in the shower? And then I had my very first slash squick moment.)
First RPS/RPF I read:
Do we count historical slash? What about political slash? I used to follow
current-affairs pretty closely. For the lulz.
First fanfiction I read that made me think, 'YES, this is exactly the kind of fanfiction I'd like to write...':
I read a lot of crack early on. Not a conscious decision, but I think I was obviously warped by things like "Revenge of the Shower Curtain".
Pairing in the first fanfiction I wrote:
Um.. My first fan-fic was a self-insert X-men fic, but I was too self-conscious to let myself be a Mary Sue. I was 15, a pairing would have been squicky. (It would have been me/Iceman probably, because I would have let logic! get in the way of my schoolgirl fantasies.) My code name was Psi-Fire.
(I think the first pairing I wrote was Hakkai/Gojyo of Saiyuki.)
First OTP: Gambit/Rogue, probably. Followed swiftly by Iceman/Gambit and Iceman/Northstar.
First RPS/F OTP:
Not my thing.
First fannish friend I met in person:
Like, somebody from the internet I met in real life? I don't know that I have. I have a "first friend that dragged me kicking into a fandom" does that count?
First character I formally roleplayed:
Aurora Boreas Lightfeather. She was a winged Elvish princess with a toucan familiar. Go ahead, laugh, she was awesome. She had paperclips. (edit: oh, that's not what this meant? I think I played Jubilee once. See "AOL Chatroom" above.)
Edit: Y'all, the
Fanlore X-men Wiki is like a little slice of my younger self. This, after I just found out the Gundam Wing archive is still up. I feel so nostalgic I may weep.
