Life is too short, live it up

I was in total shock when I heard that Sarah Burke passed away today. I thought she would make it through but probably not career-wise as it did seem serious, and that medical advancements are available for injuries such as hers, but alas, that is not the case today.

I read her website and that farewell post she has in her website, and lastly, took a peek in her twitter account. I felt crushed and saddened because she had high hopes in life. She has an amazing career ahead of her, it's just the beginning, she's very talented, pretty and it seems she has a great personality. There was the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics where she was supposed to make her debut as a gold medal favourite, yet...it didn't happen in the end. There was no fairy tale happy ending...just a slow, painful unexpected death to an otherwise bright future.

Reading her twitter posts, it seemed that she was full of life and a busy work schedule for the year. If you read her twitter posts, you'd never believe that she'd even get injured and later die of her injuries. "It never stops. Onward to colorful Colorado..." was her second last posting she would ever post. Who knew.

Life is very short. And unfair sometimes. It makes you wonder what you should do differently in your life. After all, tomorrow could be your last. RIP Sarah Burke. Thoughts and condolences go out to you and your family. May your legacy and spirit live on in others partaking in the wonderful sport of freeskiing. If spirits do exist, I hope you watch and cheer on your fellow teammates and past competitors at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
