Thankfully that whole debacle is done with. I regretfully have taken a loss but it's better to have finished with that now than later.
That being said, there will be celebrations all the next week at The Lady as we move forward into what shall, no doubt, be a long and bright future.
The visit to grandmother's did not end as planned though. I knew she was elderly but to arrive and learn she'd passed just a few hours earlier...
It's been almost 14 years since Mother's death but back at that moment, I had far more to deal with. Mother was gone and I'd been handed The Lady. It was far too easy to just let myself spend all my time and concentration on the business because it was all so new to me. Mother had been grooming me for years, yes, but there had been so much more she had needed to teach me about the place.
I do not have that distraction now. I cannot just lose myself in this place once more.
