Laments of a Colorist with a Twitchy PC

I see another Usagi Layout test again it’ll be too soon and I and STILL not done with it. *twitches*
If any of you have been wondering where the hell I have been lately I’ve been locked onto my PC trying to get this thing done. I’ve been avoiding my primary AIM since AOHell Instant Messenger seems to have the nasty habit of crashing my Paint Shop Pro at a moments notice when somebody IM’s me, so I’m either not on AIM or on under an alt with a VERY limited version of my friends list. Some times nothing happens. I’m thinking it’s a million to one crap shoot depending on the combo of AIM, PSP 8.0 and Windows98 and the mood they are all in at the time. *gags*
15 days till I order the new PC e_e
Here’s the System I’m looking at for any that are interested;
2.20G Celron Processor
512M of RAM
40G Hard Drive (might get an upgrade to 80G IF the price is right)
16x CD-ROM/DVD drive in Bay 1
48x CD-R/RW drive in Bay 2
3.5 Floppy Drive
Windows XP Home Edition
-And assorted network cards ect ect ect…
I don’t need a new monitor, or printer…scanner is up in the air depending on the drivers. Microtec is pretty good at keeping those up to date. What’s murdering me on the price is the RAM I need. I currently have a Pentium3 Processor and 386M RAM and I’m taxing THAT. Most of the home PC’s off the shelf come with 256M standard…I have to add another 100.00 to the bottom line to get the RAM upgrade I need. *groans* I decided on the two CD Drives when I figured the cost of one DVD/ROM/R-RW drive was the same as having one ROM/DVD and one R-RW…so I figured what the hell get two save myself some hassle when copying backups, I was going to cut down to one to save cash…but since the difference was only a few dollars…I decided against it.
I was able to get my site updated, but the Avengers site still needs work, gotta dig though all the files JW sent me and post them up with linkage and all that. Nothing too tough, just time consuming. The Ivy costume is on the back burner, the original costume STILL fits thank gods and can work if I can’t get the time to re-vamp it so that got knocked down the list. Main priority right now are the Usagi Layouts I have them all done but two, and those had to be re done since they didn’t work once we got them coded and posted. Figured that would happen, thank gods I had some backup images planned. 14 themes @_@ acks. One took forever since there were no good pics for the webmaster’s original plan, I had to improvise BIG time, but the final is kinda cute and funny too. Hope he likes it.
I’m caught up here at work and it’s driving me nuts…I wish I could at least CODE the Avengers site while I am here. But nope no HTML Editor, no art program, nada.
Oh well better to keep this Journal updated I guess.
On the other front I got back from the dentist on Tuesday and have Bad News Good News. The bad is that two of my fillings didn’t bond with my tooth enamel right and some parts are pulling away leading to possible decay. Therefore they have to be drilled out and refilled. The good news is that since I had nothing to do with this they are refilling them for free. That’s a plus since one I know will cost over 200.00 YOUCH. The drawback is the fact that I love novicane when they are drilling but hate the 2-3 hours of waiting for the effects to wear off…blech and this new formula they have started to use hits me hard, I get really cranky and lethargic. Not fun.
At least they didn’t find any new ones. All I get are cavities…no crowns, root canals, no gum disease, chipped teeth nothing like that…just LOTS of little cavities in weird places that makes my dentist wonder WTF. I’ve cut back on my cola intake, started fluoride treatments, and everything else you can think of and they still pop up. =P My teeth just don’t like me I guess. At least I have a good dentist that knows what she’s doing and not a mad woman with the needle and drill.
Okay I gotta go to the bank and then to lunch then wonder what the hell I’m going to do for the rest of the afternoon…maybe if I’m lucky I’ll get inspired to work on Fallen Angels.
