...but it's my cat so what would I expect? Sane? NOT!
Okay my cat (for those of you who do not know) is a pure black cat named Spook and trust me he fits that name to a tee. He's VERY skittish, as in you ring the doorbell and the cat Vanishes Not kidding I think he has a cloaking device or something. Anyways, we found him at a shelter a few years ago and he was completely declawed when we got him. No claws at all, none, front and back claws gone. So he's a completely indoor cat.
But with all cats he's curious as heck and every now and then he'll get the urge to try and go outside and explore. Not gonna happen since he has no way to defend himself and there are a few ill tempered cats and dogs around the neighborhood. So the other night my Mom comes home and opens the garage door, its got a saftey on it that if ANYTHING passes under the door while it is decending it'll head back up...well that happened and Mom just saw the black furry shape slink though the door. Did I mention that it was after dark? Ever try and FIND a black cat after dark? Trust me, it's not fun.
Since I am the ONLY person in the entire house that Spook will respond to I grabbed a flashlight and started searching the front and back yards for the cat. Funny thing with a black cat, you can hear him before you SEE him thanks to his collar and tags. Either way, after searching under the pool deck, the cars, the back yard, the side yards and the front yard...no cat. I repeat the process hoimg in on the jingle jingle of his tags.
I FINALLY spot the furry devil as he's creeping out from UNDER the front porch, where I can't search, and starts sniffing a bush. And it's amazing how fast one can move and be completely silent when one wants to be. Ten seconds later I had a rather confused cat in my arms as I'm doing a little victory dance on the front porch. My mother who was searching with me, heard my woops of joy came around the corner to see what was up.
Remember what I said about my cat scaring easily? Well to his small little brain, Mom was a stranger, so he freaked out on me. It still amazes me that a 11 pound cat can beat the leaving snot out of a 120 lb human. And trust me that cat knows WHERE to hit, solor plexus, face, stomach and flailing his furry paws in every direction making it next to impossible to hold on to. Thank gods he doesn't have claws.
Mom got to the door and opened it wide JUST as I lost my grip on Spook and he shot into the house like a bat out of hell and vanished for the next hour x_X. Then he crept back out when he figured out that it was safe to do so, there were no strangers in the house and we were not going to kill him for making us search for him outside.
I love my cat =P
