Well, That's Interesting.

AN and I made an interesting discovery today.

Longtime readers of my journal (not to mention online friends I complain about life to) may remember that, this fall/winter I had a job as a stablehand at an equestrian center and that I had a boss that behaved rather psychotically toward me. She's the person who would complain about everyone when they weren't around, who bitched and yelled at everyone there at the drop of a hat, eventually fired me and kept refusing to pay me for my last week (Christmas week, I worked on Christmas for her) of work.

That boss was the person I was considering suing, but wound up not (because court fees were too high for me to want to bother, considering the small award that I sought). I'd wanted to bring her to court just to spite her for her crazy behavior toward me when I asked for my rightful pay, but just wound up saying "screw it" and moving on with my life.

Anyway, today, ArkNorth and I decided to go fishing at one of the local lakes, a little county park lake. To get to this lake, we had to drive past that old ranch.

It was like a graveyard. The gates were locked and there were no horses to be seen anywhere outside. I didn't see any cars there and their sign was no longer present.

Out of curiosity, AN googled the name of the place and came up with what used to be their website - it's gone.

So, apparently, they've gone out of business. We don't know whether it was bankruptcy, whether the company got sued by someone with the clout enough to do it, or whether the owner and her husband decided just to pull up stakes.

Considering the batshit way she reacted to me when I asked for my final pay, and the fact that she up and suddenly got an accountant (whom she said was supposed to handle my final pay but never did), I'd say my ex-boss was having money problems, or possibly legal problems.

This means I will probably never see my $150.00, but I feel pretty good that I wound up not actually having employment with that place longer than I did. I'm glad to have not been involved with whatever went down.

justice, real life idiots
