Gustav fun
I'm alive! I evacuated to a friend's house in Baton Rouge, which ironically got the worst part of the storm. It was wonderfully exciting. During the hurricane, we all were on the porch barbequing--listening to music and the sound of exploding transformers. Trees and tree limbs were falling all around us, being pushed over by cat 2 winds. 2 giant limbs almost got my car. The best part was the flash flood the next day. We all went swimming in the yard.
Finding out that almost half the neighborhood houses were squished by trees, and that two people were killed the next street over was sobering, though.
Power was out for 5 days, and it still is out over there. I got back yesterday to realize my apartment in NOLA only lost power for an hour. Police still patrol the streets and we are not allowed out after 10 at night.
I can't wait for Ike, but maybe I should go to GA for that.
