dvd get: Burst Angel boxset . . .
Well, was randomly wandering around Best Buy today when I noticed they finally had a Viridian Collection version of Burst Angel for roughly half the price of the original boxset (probably originally 80 or so, got this set for 40.) Thought it looked interesting before and now that I could afford it, I bought the thing.
Fairly typical for a Gonzo show, with fanservice, gunfire, humongous mecha, and lots of freaking huge explosions! The fanservice is a little worse on the boxart/disc cases than in the actual show, thankfully. Only thing I found rather annoying so far is the tendency for the redhaired girl, Meg, to always be the damsel in distress . . . all four arcs on the first two discs had her either get captured or kidnapped. Yeah, it allows Jo to be her totally badass self and come to the rescue a lot, but it's getting a little boring . . .
There's a lot of parallels with Kiddy Grade and even Solty Rei, but given it's the same studio and probably the same writers, I sort of expected it. *shrugs* It's a decent action show and that's what counts, really.
