Holy crap, I live!
Considering I just finished watching the entire third Tenchi Muyo OVA, I just had to post. Reading the Wiki article on it first helped dampen the WTF?!-ness a little, but it was still one of the more cracktastic things I've ever watched.
Here's some observations, if you care:
--Noike is a fucking MARY SUE! Yes, the other characters can be accused of this from time to time, but not like this chick. She can cook as good as Sasami, miraculously manages to get everybody to do their chores, had a wonderfully tragic past and was adopted by the Jurai royal family, she's a nurse and a special agent trained by Seto Jurai, oh, and she's got a big secret too, that she doesn't even know about. Do I even have to mention how easily she managed to weasel her way into the hearts of everyone there? Bleh, gag me. Writers, you fail at life for thinking you had to put her in there.
--What was up with that whole deal with Misao, anyway? I understand loving your sister, but that's just ridiculous. And the dude kept having flashbacks to something that happened to Mihoshi, I wanted to know what happened there too but there wasn't any explanation.
--Z was interesting, partcularly that look into his past we got. I wanted to know more about him rather than Tenchi's crazy family, but we only got that glimpse. Would be fun to know more about a species nuts enough to launch an attack on Tokimi's lair . . .
--Speaking of Tokimi, she was freaking awesome . . . she's also crazier than Washu, and that's saying something.
But yeah, it's a little uneven but otherwise all right . . . though if Funi hadn't put the show into a boxset I probably wouldn't have bothered.
