Meh . . .

Well, that was a little disappointing. I speak of course, of the last episode of Xyber 9 . . .

All right, I'll get this out of the way right now: the final battle sucked! It was a semi-decent fight, but it was just the end of it that made me want to find the writers and bash their heads together. Yes, Machestro is temperamental and rage-prone, but I really didn't think he'd be so consumed by rage that killing Jack was the only thing that mattered, even at the cost of his own life. It's a little hard to explain how it went down, maybe I'll post screenshots later, but basically Jack figured out how his armor worked, and Machestro couldn't hurt him. Maybe thinking more power would be able to get through the armor's barrier, Machestro runs over to the Eye of Darkness and hooks his own armor up to it's main generator. The resulting energy beam is pretty damn impressive but still doesn't scratch Jack, and the inevitable overload soon occurs. There's a green flash, the Eye of Darkness is gone and so is Machestro.

Yes, I know they had to wrap it up quickly, but come on, have some respect for the intelligence of your villain! Especially when prior characterization pretty much showed he was smarter than damn near everyone.

But yeah, enough ranting on that. Other than the fight, we had another plot of Roselyn trying to unite the two opposing armies to fight the Hunter Claws together. Really, this episode was her shining moment . . . a bunch of Renard's guys accused her of being an impostor, and still she kept trying. You certainly wouldn't have thought the bratty princess from the beginning of the show could've stood in front of that oncoming command ship trying to get them to stop fighting.

Oh, and the love triangle? I think the two girls figured out that they can both like Jack and not have to fight over him. It's certainly more than I was expecting, anyway. Though personally, I think he'd be better off with Anakonda . . .
