Birthday at Faire
Saturday we were up early and on the road to head to Texas Renaissance Festival for my early birthday visit. It was a very lovely day. Our lunch and dinner were on the recommendation of a friend and she was spot on. The giant plate of food from Golden Dragon was only $12 and fed both of us plus was delicious. The spinach quesadillas were also incredible. We didn't catch any of the shows but that's okay, it's not really the reason I go. We saw many friends and I spent a lot of time laughing. There was a phone call that I'd rather not think about since it wasn't the greatest but the rest of the day made up for it. We met up with several of the Dagorhir family and hung out with them which was really awesome since I haven't really seen them since SCC in August.
There were also presents but I'll do a big picture post of all of those after the actual day so there's only 1 or 2 posts like that.
Sunday was fighter practice and I was having a blast until the last big battle. I took a full strength hit directly on my fingers gripping my sword. I suspect it's just a jammed thumb but holy crap it hurts. I pulled on it myself and watched it slip back into place ... that's always disconcerting. Afterward we joined nearly everybody at Prince's Hamburgers and had a blast sharing stories and teasing each other.
Despite the pain it was a good weekend and there was a lot of fun. I'm going to focus on the happy. :grin:
