Cultural Weekend

Friday we had a quick dinner and then were off to the theatre for a showing of Joyful Noise. In several ways it reminded me a lot of why I used to love church, the group emotions that would sweep through, the feel good moment. It's what I call "little mob mentality". It makes me want to start looking up churches .. and then I remember that I don't actually believe that religion. I could find a church .. but that feeling wouldn't be a permanent thing and I'd just end up frustrated at dissimilar belief systems, politics, and getting up early on the one day to sleep in to experience it. The movie though? I loved it. Those overcoming adversity movies are like crack to me. I absolutely adore them.

Saturday was were up at Oh My God Insane 'o Clock for an early walk before shower and heading to the theatre. We stopped at Shipley's on the way and picked up breakfast. After we got our tickets it was time to meander through errands. There was a stop at Microcenter to pick up a new micro SD card for the phone to perhaps fix the memory issue (No, since the stupid phone will only install a small handful of apps to the card and the others 'have' to be on the phone. Stupid farking "smart" phone.) Dragon suggests a hammer .. I say no.

Then we went to K-Pop for sushi in unreasonable proportions. Grilled squid, octopus, mackerel, tempura, *blissful death* Lynn teased me and said the faces I was making were usually only seen in the bedroom. I could have been embarrassed but oh my god how delicious. (I need to find out of Sorcha likes sushi so I have an excuse to go again *laugh*)

The mall was on the other side of the freeway so we headed there and tried so very hard to give a shoe store money. Footlocker didn't have my size in the one I wanted, Finish Line wouldn't even acknowledge me (the associates were busy horsing around with another customer), and Famous Footwear didn't have anything that was pretty. Yes I said pretty. I spend a lot of my walking time looking at my feet. I'd like to like what I'm looking at. I tried walking with my head up and I realized that the sidewalk is tilted ... and the longer I look at it the dizzier I get and I feel like I'm going to roll into the street. I really, really want the pair I tried on at Lady Footlocker, but they'd run $102 .. and I just don't know if I can justify that.

After giving up on shoes we went to get seats in an afternoon showing of Avengers. It was really all that I could have asked for in a movie. I love what was created here and I really hope that they continue making movies like this. It was simply incredible.

Then we went to Kabob Korner and had some very delicious food. I didn't eat a lot of it since it was a bit more spicy than I was really in the mood for that day, but that doesn't change that it was 'very' good food.

Finally ... the concert! We scored second row seats since we got there so early that morning. Who was playing? Cubby Checker!!!!! How much did we spend to see this legend? $0!!!  I serious adore Miller Outdoor Theatre for being free and having incredible performances. The show started at 8:30 and the man himself did not leave the stage until 10. There was no opening act. Instead we were given the chance to experience him for the full time. It was incredible.

We were so keyed up after leaving that we decided to stop in and get a few groceries before heading home. Sunday was a very lazy day. There was a bit of house cleaning but mostly we vegged on the computers and I spent a large portion of the day in Star Wars with Dragon.

It was really an incredible weekend.
