Weekend Out of the House

Apr 16, 2012 10:50

Friday night we got a call from friends asking what our plans for the next day were. After talking with them a bit we decided to skip the Indie Book Festival and spend the day with them.

Saturday we were up early and at Miller to get our tickets for the musical that night. Then we met up with Kathy and Derly to have lunch with them. Spaghetti Warehouse has great food and playing with GPS on the new phone was way too much fun. I'm a simple girl and easily amused. Then we joined them at the Home Show since they had extra tickets. I could have been in so much trouble had we had a home ... but it was a lot of fun to wander around and look at things. I nearly had an accident over at the SPCA booth. There was one puppy who just looked so tired, when I reached over to pet her she let me for a bit but then very gently put her head in my hand and closed her eyes. There was also a tiny black ball of fuzz playing with a ball in super slow mo like he was afraid of hurting it. He was gentle when he tasted my fingers too. Melted I tell you, I simply melted.

We stopped at 59 Diner for a quick bite to eat with them as well before heading back to the park for the show. Hearing that it was a children's theater production I wasn't sure what to expect as those are sometimes hit or miss. HITS production of Ragtime: The Musical was simply breathtaking. I was spellbound the whole time and absolutely loved it. It didn't feel like watching a play .. it felt like I'd been granted a window into actual events. If you have a chance to see a production by them, go, don't pass it up.

Sunday was our lazy day. We went to Wal-mart where I realized I don't need a car charger for the phone since I have a USB adapter for the car and it comes with a USB cable that I could use to charge the phone from the computer. Then we went and got groceries. Once home I painted my nails and played a bit in Star Wars. It was a good relaxing day.

While running around on Saturday and Sunday I was also working on a design issue for an upcoming commission. It took several false starts before I got everything to the point where I think it needs to be. I didn't take the piano scarf out with us because, once more, I'm crazy paranoid about white yarn ... plus the whole 5 balls of yarn at one time isn't easy to manage while walking around. Two small ones I can manage with the right project bag .. but I haven't managed to make my old jeans into a messenger bag just yet.

Today we're lucky I'm even out of bed. Storm system is moving through and my head is trying to split apart because of it. I wonder if pointing out that living in the midst of a Hurricane Zone when you have weather produced migraines will convince Lynn to consider moving? I think it's going to be a quiet day for me today. At least it drops the temp so that I'm cool while miserable. Being miserable while feeling hot and sticky sucks even more.

migraine, weekend report, shopping, knitting
